We are the English Golf Union Limited (company no. 5564018) with registered office at The National Golf Centre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6PU, trading as England Golf. We are the national governing body for amateur golf in England.
These terms and conditions apply when you subscribe to the England Golf Digital Community, known as iGolf.
iGolf is a way for golfers who are not members of golf clubs affiliated to England Golf to obtain a Handicap Index® under the World Handicap System™ (WHS™).
When you join iGolf you will be known as a subscriber and you will be entitled to:
iGolf does not provide all the benefits as golf club membership. The following are rights that are not included in your iGolf subscription:
iGolf is open to all golfers (or aspiring golfers) who:
Your iGolf subscription will last for a period of 12 months from the date upon which we send confirmation of your subscription and will be automatically renewed on a rolling basis unless you choose to cancel. More information about auto-renewal can be found below.
If you are signing up for the 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer, your iGolf subscription will last for a period of 30 days plus 12 months from day 31. Only one 30 Day Free Trial can be accessed per person.
It costs £44.00 per year to be an iGolf subscriber. We may increase this cost, but where we do so we will notify you in advance of your renewal date in line with the renewal process set out below.
Payment can only be made by credit or debit card or by redeeming an iGolf Voucher. An iGolf Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any promotional offers and discounts when joining iGolf, see iGolf Voucher Terms & Conditions for details. We do not accept payment by instalments.
If you are signing up for the 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer, payment for your iGolf subscription will be due at the end of your Free Trial Subscription period, unless you inform us that you wish to cancel.
Registrations must be completed online at www.englandigolf.co.uk. We cannot accept any other method of registration for iGolf.
The online form must be completed accurately and honestly, otherwise we reserve the right to cancel your subscription. This includes the provisions relating to consent of a parent or guardian for subscribers aged under 14 (including signing up for the 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer).
The online form contains a link to the England Golf WHS Privacy Policy which sets out how we will process your personal data. You should read this document and let us know if you have any questions.
If paying by credit or debit card, you will be asked to enter payment details online. Your card payment details are sent to a third-party merchant services provider, Windcave. Details of how they process payment data can be found here: https://sec.windcave.com/pxmi3/privacy-policy
If redeeming an iGolf Voucher you will be asked to submit a voucher code.
When signing up to the 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer, you will still be asked to enter payment details online for your iGolf subscription. Your billing card payment details will be stored until the end of your Free Trial Subscription period when payment will be automatically taken by a third-party merchant services provider, Windcave, unless you have told us you do not wish to continue with your subscription before the end of the 30 day period. We explain how you can let us know in section 11 Cancellation and Cooling Off Period below.
Only one iGolf subscription is allowed per person. If it appears to us that an individual has multiple subscriptions, relevant subscriptions will be cancelled at our discretion.
During the online registration we will carry out eligibility checks. For example, if you have previously been a member of a golf club affiliated to England Golf we will check on our system that your membership came to an end more than 30 days before your application.
If our system shows that you are still an active member or your membership came to end less than 30 days from your application date, you will need to provide us with evidence from your previous club to show that your membership came to an end more than 30 days ago. If you cannot provide us with evidence, you will be able to become an iGolf subscriber once resigned from your previous club and once 30 days has elapsed from the date on our system. If required, we reserve the right to contact your previous club for any information relating to your previous membership.
We may also check that you have not been subject to any suspension under the England Golf Safeguarding or Disciplinary Regulations.
We will send you an email to confirm your subscription, and you are not a subscriber until we send you a confirmation email.
Once you have received our confirmation email, you will be able to login to the iGolf web platform at www.englandigolf.co.uk and the MyEG App.
iGolf is intended to be an inclusive scheme which opens up the benefits of the game of golf to as many people as possible. With the opportunity to play with a Handicap Index under the WHS comes a number of responsibilities for the protection and benefit of golfers, golf clubs and the game. We therefore require that as a subscriber you do the following:
If you do not follow these requirements we may apply a sanction which may include cancellation of your subscription, or some other sanction permitted by our disciplinary or safeguarding regulations.
We operate an auto-renewal process whereby payment is automatically taken from the billing card that you used for registration (or any updated card) at the end of your subscription period. An iGolf voucher cannot be used to pay for the renewal of a subscription.
If an iGolf Voucher was redeemed for payment of your subscription, you will be asked to add a billing card to your account in advance of your subscription renewal date. This billing card will then be utilised for future auto-renewals.
We will send you an email 11 months after your subscription start date, and a further email one week prior to your subscription renewal date, telling you of your renewal date, the cost to renew your subscription and the process should you wish to cancel.
If you do not cancel, the cost for a further 12-month subscription period will be taken from your billing card using the details stored by our merchant services provider. If we are unable to take payment from your billing card an email will be sent to notify you that your billing card has been declined. The system will retry to take payment.
If we have not received payment 14 days after renewal is due you will be automatically resigned from iGolf and you will no longer be able to access the iGolf online platform or MyEG App. You will no longer benefit from the personal liability insurance provided under the scheme and any other iGolf Subscriber benefits will also lapse. You will be unable to renew following this period, however you may apply to re-join the scheme at any time via [www.englandigolf.co.uk].
You can cancel your subscription for any reason within 14 days of joining iGolf and receive a full refund provided you have not made use of the service. For example, if you have submitted scores via the MyEG App or made a claim on the personal liability insurance you will not be able to cancel. This 14 day period is known as a “cooling-off period”. To request a refund within this cooling off period you will need to email igolf@englandgolf.org. If accepted, your access to the MyEG App and online iGolf Platform will be terminated following your cancellation request. Please view iGolf Voucher Terms & Conditions for details of the cooling off period regarding iGolf Vouchers.
If you are signing up to the 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer, your iGolf subscription can be cancelled at any time during the 30 Day Free Trial period. This right is in addition to the cooling-off period. In other words, if you have signed up to a 30 Day Free Trial promotional offer you will be able to cancel your subscription at any time during the first 30 days, whether or not you have made use of the service. You will receive email notification in advance of the end of the trial period. To cancel during this trial period, follow the same cancellation process as below, when logged onto the iGolf online Platform click on ‘My Account’ and click ‘Cancel Subscription’. Once a request is made, this will take effect at the end of your subscription period. Upon this date you will be resigned from the system and access to the online web platform and MyEG app will terminate. Once your subscription has ended, you will no longer benefit from the personal liability insurance provided under the scheme, your Handicap Index will no longer be active, and any other iGolf subscriber benefits will also lapse.
An iGolf subscription can be cancelled at any time during the subscription period. To cancel an iGolf subscription, when logged onto the iGolf online Platform click on ‘My Account’ and click ‘Cancel Subscription’. Once a request is made to cancel an iGolf subscription, this will take effect at the end of your subscription period. No refund will be made in respect of the period between your cancellation request and the anniversary of your subscription.
If you join a golf club affiliated to England Golf during your subscription period you will become a member of England Golf. This will supersede your subscription and you will pay an affiliation fee to England Golf and the relevant county body as part of your golf club membership. Once we have confirmation from an affiliated club that you have become a member, your unique membership number, playing record and Handicap Index will be transferred and you will log in as a club member using the same details and will be given access to the golf club members’ online WHS platform and MyEG App. Your opt-in preferences for email communications will be carried over. We will not be able to offer refunds in respect of any unused element of your subscription.
We reserve the right to cancel your subscription at our discretion if we believe you have breached these terms, or if you have breached any regulations referred to below. If we exercise this right, we will let you know using the contact details you have provided to us.
As an iGolf subscriber the following regulations and policies will apply to you
You should familiarise yourself with these rules. When you are starting out this can seem daunting. If you have any questions, please ask us via igolf@englandgolf.org
If we consider any subscriber is in breach of any of the above, we may take action.
If we breach these terms or are negligent, we may be liable to you for foreseeable loss or damage that you suffer. We are not liable for any loss or damage that was not foreseeable, any loss or damage not caused by our breach or negligence, or any business loss or damage.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for any death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
We may update the MyEG App and iGolf online platform from time to time for reasons that include fixing bugs or enhancing functionality, which may mean that they are unavailable from time to time. We will try and keep any disruption to your access to a minimum.
The MyEG App and iGolf online platform rely on a number of things working properly to enable you to enjoy all of the features. Many of these, such as your internet connection and/or mobile signal, your location (especially if you are outside mainland UK), your device and the app store, are entirely outside of our control. Although we will do everything we reasonably can to resolve issues, we are not responsible to you if you are unable to use any part of the app or online platform due to a poor connection or signal, fault in your device, app store failure or anything else it would not be reasonable to expect us to control.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
No one other than you or us has the right to enforce these terms and you are not allowed to transfer your rights under this agreement to anyone else.
From time to time, we may review these terms and any regulations or polices that apply under them. We will inform you of any changes and unless you inform us via igolf@englandgolf.org within seven days of us informing you, you will be deemed to have accepted such changes. If you do not accept any changes, we may need to, at our discretion, terminate your subscription.
