Top 10 FAQs

All rounds must be verified by a marker or fellow player who has access to the MyEG app, this can be either a member of a club affiliated to England Golf, an iGolf subscriber or an iPlay user.

Handicap procedures relating to the MyEG app align with the Rules of Handicapping, with procedures in place to protect the integrity of the World Handicap System.

When submitting a score for handicapping, a golfer must create a score intent.

This is done by creating a scorecard and pre registering a round on the MyEG app. By creating a scorecard, you confirm your intent to submit a score for handicap purposes. This must be done prior to starting your round.

Geo location technology ensures you can only create a scorecard when you are in close proximity to the course where the round will take place. Whilst scorecard submission can be completed elsewhere, we recommend this is done straight after your round.

Handicap procedures relating to the MyEG app align with the Rules of Handicapping and include measures to protect the integrity of the World Handicap System.

When you create a scorecard via the MyEG app, you also create an intent to submit a score for handicap purposes. This means a score must then be submitted.

This process is in place to prevent golfers from selecting only certain scores for their playing record, which could manipulate their Handicap Index. When a score is not submitted or verified, a player may receive a penalty score.

England Golf have appointed global insurance group Howden to manage the iGolf subscribers’ public liability insurance policy.

For more information, please visit the dedicated Howden website.

If you have incorrectly selected a course or tees, you can delete your scorecard by swiping right. You can then make the correct selection. Please ensure you check this before starting your round.

If you notice an error once your round has started, please submit your score and then contact igolf@englandgolf.org to see if this can be amended. Guidance on using the MyEG app for score verification can be found here.

Scores from outside England can be returned to igolf@englandgolf.org for handicap purposes.

For more information on what is required, please see the Handicap Procedures relating to iGolf, which can be downloaded here.

Please note that only scores submitted via the app from affiliated courses in England, including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, can be used to obtain your initial Handicap Index.

For previous golf club members, any scores previously recorded on the World Handicap System will transfer automatically with your membership number, provided scores are on your playing record from 1 January 2018.

For golfers who have not previously had a playing record on the World Handicap System, scores recorded prior to having an iGolf subscription cannot count towards your Handicap Index as they have not followed the required procedures.

Your Handicap Index is calculated from the best 8 scores out of 20. The remaining 12 scores are classed as non counting as they are not used in the calculation of your Handicap Index.

Any scores not used in the calculation of your Handicap Index are flagged as non counting, displayed as orange dots. Those included in the calculation are flagged as counting, displayed as green dots.

When you reach 20 scores, an average of the best 8 is used and referred to as counting.

Your Handicap Index will be calculated using a percentage based on the number of scores you currently have.

Please refer to page 49 of the Rules of Handicapping for a table explaining this scale in more detail.

Please contact your previous golf club for this number or email igolf@englandgolf.org.

It is essential that this number is provided so we can transfer your previous playing record and Handicap Index and avoid creating a duplicate record on the World Handicap System.

Joining iGolf FAQs

Your unique membership number is 10 digits long and will generally start with 10.

You will be allocated this lifelong number upon joining iGolf. If you have previously been a member of a golf club, you will not need a new number when joining iGolf. Your previous membership number remains attached to your record and will be reinstated along with your previous scoring record and Handicap Index, if available.

If you move from iGolf into club membership, you will retain this number. Please note that this number was formerly known as a CDH number.

Once joined, you can find your membership number on the MyEG app, on the iGolf web platform once logged in, or on your welcome email.

If you previously had a membership number and are unsure of it, please contact your previous golf club or email igolf@englandgolf.org.

iGolf is open to golfers who are non club members and who have not held membership of a golf club affiliated to England Golf in the 30 days prior to applying. This includes all types of golf club membership.

For further details on eligibility, please view the iGolf Terms and Conditions.

As the World Handicap System allows professional golfers to hold a Handicap Index, professional golfers can join iGolf provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.

Any professional joining is asked to notify the iGolf team at igolf@englandgolf.org with their membership number so this can be added to their record.

iGolf is only open to non club members. This includes all types of membership.

If you are paying an affiliation fee to England Golf, you can already access the MyEG app and public liability insurance as a benefit of being an affiliated member. Your golf club can also provide you with a Handicap Index® along with many other benefits, so there is no benefit or need to join iGolf.

For full details on eligibility, please view our Terms and Conditions.

Previous club members may join iGolf once 30 days have passed since leaving club membership prior to making an application.

The exception would be if an affiliated club closed or disaffiliated from England Golf. In this case, please contact igolf@englandgolf.org for guidance.

During registration, eligibility checks are carried out to determine when a golfer’s previous membership ended on the World Handicap System platform.

If you left more than 30 days ago and cannot proceed with registration, please contact igolf@englandgolf.org.

You may need to provide evidence from your previous club confirming when your membership expired. For further details, please view the iGolf Terms and Conditions.

Your Handicap Index and playing record are attached to your unique membership number.

Provided you have a record on the World Handicap System platform and scores available from 1 January 2018, you will be able to reactivate your Handicap Index.

Without providing your unique membership number during registration, you will be unable to transfer your playing history and Handicap Index.

iGolf is designed for independent golfers who are seeking an alternative to club membership while still wanting access to a Handicap Index®.

In collaboration with stakeholders, certain eligibility clauses are included within the Terms and Conditions. This includes a 30 day period between leaving a club and joining iGolf.

During this time you can continue to play golf. Once the period has passed, you can join iGolf and immediately reactivate your lifelong membership number, previous Handicap Index, and playing record.

To view your subscription term, log into the iGolf platform and click on My Account. Your term can be found under Invoice History.

Alternatively, refer to your welcome email.

Your subscription operates on a rolling basis and renews automatically.

Payment is taken from the billing card used at registration or any updated card at the end of your subscription period.

You will receive an email approximately 11 months after your subscription start date and a further reminder one week before renewal. These emails will confirm your renewal date, cost, and how to cancel if required.

If you wish to renew, please ensure your billing card details are correct under My Account. If everything is correct, no further action is needed.

If you do not cancel, the cost for a further 12 month subscription will be taken from your stored billing card details.

If payment cannot be taken, you will receive an email notification advising that your billing card has been declined.

The system will retry the payment process and notify you of the outcome.

If payment is not received within 14 days of the renewal date, you will be automatically resigned from iGolf. For further details, please refer to the iGolf Terms and Conditions.

Leaving iGolf FAQs

Joining an affiliated club will supersede your iGolf subscription. You will be resigned as an iGolf subscriber and registered as a club member.

You cannot be both an iGolf subscriber and a club member.

No refunds are issued if you move into club membership during your 12-month iGolf subscription period.

Provide your membership number to your new club so they can transfer your playing history and Handicap Index. Your new club will request the release of your record from iGolf.

If you change affiliated clubs, the same process applies. Your previous club will resign you, and your new club will reinstate you.

Your record will always remain attached to your unique membership number. No club should issue you with a new number.

You may cancel within 14 days of your confirmation email and receive a full refund, provided you have not used the service.

Refunds are issued to the original billing card. Your subscription will be cancelled immediately, and access to the MyEG app and iGolf platform will end.

Outside the 14 day cooling off period, a no refund policy applies. Please refer to the iGolf Terms and Conditions for full details.

You can cancel at any time during your 12 month subscription period.

Log into the iGolf platform, go to My Account, and select Cancel Subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your subscription term. Your subscription will not renew.

Your playing record and Handicap Index will become inactive.

If you rejoin iGolf or become a member of an affiliated club, you can reactivate your account using your unique membership number.

All previous scores will be retained. However, you will not have access to your record unless you are an affiliated club member or an iGolf subscriber.
